Grid Connection & Energy Strategy

The UK is accelerating its transition to renewable energy as part of its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050. Onshore wind is a critical part of this strategy, offering a reliable, cost-effective solution to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy security.

Calderdale Energy Park will contribute to this effort by harnessing the region’s wind potential to generate clean electricity. To ensure that this renewable energy is efficiently distributed across the national grid, we are exploring four potential connections.

The connection options available for Calderdale Energy Park include

2

A connection via Electricity North West at the Rochdale substation.

3

A connection via NESO at a new substation north of Leeds (location to be determined).

These options are under review. The final connection strategy will be determined based on technical assessments, regulatory requirements and consultation with relevant stakeholders.
